Antlers
«

Anyone ever make anything out of antler besides knives. I am a big DIY guy and would love some ideas for all the sheds lying around the house. I could only imagine that there are a bunch of people out there to that would like to do something with them. I was maybe thinking of making a fly tying bench and making dowels out of antler for the thread. Maybe even making a cribagge board out of one of my elk horns but then i get to thinking..... making a cribbage board out of a 6 point is sort of hard...............

This is Moose, which is far more dense than any other antler I've found, but some elk and deer can give you the same effect.

I just can't bring myself to putting a saw, drill, grinder, ....you get the point, to any antler that I own. I may be a finatic or darn right weird....ok don't respond to that, but I love my antlers. There is a chandelier in the making (in my mind) I've made a few lamps. I barely managed to cut some tine to send to bearmanric for his calls, and I most recently was able to ship a pair off to shadowcat for his rattling this fall. Michelle will also be getting hers soon, but they cost her. As for the rest......no way.

I really like the look of that call.... really unique! It'd be cool to make some turkey trumpets w/ some old antlers.

I've got an elk shed that I think would make a great cribbage table. A buddy has a walrus head/tusks from way back when he was working on the alaskan pipeline that was scrimshawed by an esikmo into a cribbage board....its pretty freaking sweet. I think the way this particular elk shed sits on its own, it would be a great board as well. But I am no artist.

You can replace your "lever" type door handles with some antler.
