rod and reel set up for pinks

might be a little early but the ol lady bought me a gift card to cabelas and im looking to buy a new rod and reel combo for beach casting for pinks during the run this year. I would like to have something quality and below the 200 dollar mark. What type of rigs are you guys throwing from the beach!!!

8'6" to 9'6" med light to med spinning rod and I quality spinning reel to go with it.  For $200 I would go with a shimano symetre 2500 for the reel about $100.  And you could find a nice Lamiglas spinning rod for another $100.  Get to the beach and throw pink jigs or pink buzz bombs....whack and stack

        I am no expert on beach fishing for pinks, but i would recommend a rod 8'6 or longer, preferably a 9'6. I feel this is the best compromise between maneuverability and cast ability, however a 10'6 would do you good if you want that extra length to really reach out there. As for rods i have had great success with a Shimano Clarus with a rating of 8-12 lb test line. Be aware these rods no longer come with a lifetime warranty. But they are light, very balanced and what I believe to be very high value rod. Depending on whether or not you have a brand preference i would look at a Pflueger purist, summit, or Shimano Sahara. All three come with stainless steel bearings. Hope this helps you out on your search.

I agree with most of what's been said. 9'6" to 10'6", med light to medium. 2500 series reel. There are really good rods available in the sub-$100 range. Shimano, Okuma, Berkley, etc. I have a few Cabela's Fish Eagle rods that have worked well for me. They're low priced anyway, but go on sale quite often.
I have a variety of more expensive rods from Lamiglas, Sage, and St. Croix. For most fishing, my cheaper shimano and cabela's rods work just as well.

Im in love with my Berkely 10'-6" lite action 1/8 -3/8 oz. pole /  shimano sahara 4000 series reel, a little big but they hold 200+ yards of 10 lb mono, Altho i run Berkely Fireline 10 lb braid.  That combo will slay any Coho you may run up against also   For the money it is MONEY.

I use a 10' 6" rod with 10 lb main line and 8 lb leader. 

Of course I use 32' of leader because I am a fishing hygienist and their teeth need to be flossed.

I got a new Cabela's flyer in the mail this weekend. Their Fish Eagle rods are good for the price. And they're on sale from May 26 to June 7.
