So, lets say worst case scenario, no rain to the opener and the gates stay locked....is there still any huntable areas or state land?
The dnr land I mentioned is a pretty good sized chunk. I would imagine a cow on that land wouldn't be overly difficult. I haven't been there to know if the roads are gated or not tho.

they shut the gate to the dnr ground between 10/1-10/7 every year. All ground is walkable just a matter of how far you can pack a moose out. Also with 20 cow tags and all gates closed it could get crowded. I would think we will get rain and all will be ok.
If it aint broke, dont fix it.

good to know. I am sure before moving we will have rain and Iep will open. Personally I wouldn't bother coming to hike in after a cow moose early in the season.  :chuckle:

All IEP is open to hiking or mt bike right now.. I wouldnt hold your breath for rain around here to open areas thru early Oct...our Sept are usually very dry and the type of rain they are talking to open it is when we go from our dry hot to the wet cool days when you know fall has arrived.

IEP is closed to motorized..not hiking tho or mt bike
We parked the coach at the top of Blanchard pass in the pull out for 9 days for the bull tag and 5 days for the cow tag and never had any problems with either time.
There is allot of D N R land directly behind the spot mentioned above

It was pretty warm in 2012 and hunting was great. I may go a day or two to check the area out over the next week or two. Probably wont go for real till the end of October....Need my pack mule to get done with his muzzy elk hunt!  :chuckle:

They're up there. This guy decided my truck needed to stop long enough for him to inspect it last year. I saw a few up there earlier, but no pictures.
There is something just indescribably painful about being stuck behind a prius on the interstate.

that would be a great end of the season bull.  we will go for 45 plus the first month.  in November the 40 plus bull will be sought, last 2 weeks might be anything depending on the weather.    mike w
