Going to head into the unit this weekend to do some scouting and get some starting points for our hunt. I have not spent time in the unit but believe me we will be in there all summer. My buddies and I have plenty of backpack hunting experience and are planning on spending most of our time in the high country of the unit. That being said I am curious if anyone could give me some pointers or starting points, like trailheads or good roads to drop off of to begin are scouting. We don't care how steep it is and will put the work in for this tag, 2 of us have the whole season off the other buddy only has 1 week.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

thanks and good luck to all!!!

Google earth is your friend.  Combine that with a Delorme map and you should be good.

Laqua338, Don't buy the pass yet , Hancock White River may not open the entire season and even if it did open I'm not sure you would want it . The tribe has hit it pretty hard the pass couple years and there are other areas in the White River to hunt .

Good luck to all that have this tag , would like to be there myself , maybe next year .
