Moose permit question
« on: June 13, 2015, 08:22:03 AM »
Hey guys got a question...   A good friend drew bull moose a couple years ago.  This year he drew antlerless moose!   Anyway I was wondering can a guy put in for antlerless and draw it and then still draw a bull tag down the road?   Thanks and best of luck to everybody!  My dream?  A big Selkirk bull with my frontstuffer!  Maybe next year!

You can only kill one BULL moose. (Any Moose Category)

You can kill unlimited Cows. (Antlerless Moose Category)
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'

We were talking about this in another thread last night. Only the Any Moose category is once in a lifetime. If you harvest a cow or bull moose with that tag you cannot apply in the Any Moose category ever again.

There are no restrictions on the Antlerless Moose category. Anyone can apply. Which I don't agree with- I think people should be allowed one moose tag, period. Even if you don't harvest a moose, you had your chance.

I agree with that bobcat. Drawing a moose tag is hard enough. I believe it should be OIL in both categories.

bad idea. This will make odds worse for Bulls.

I put in for one of 3 tags with what...4000 other applicants. I believe the odds will always be bad and it is truly only luck of the draw.

I don't understand why you think that. It would have absolutely zero effect on the odds for a bull tag.

no one will want to draw the cow tag. I hope you guys continue to keep trying to raise prices on permits, limit opportunity, complain about youth having to many/or not enough permits. Wasn't everyone worried about the increase in bull moose tags also, is anyone giving there tags back to save Bulls. This system works. I spent $450 in permits alone for my family of 6 and drew one cow elk and a mediocre buck tag but leave it alone it will only get worse.

You must have mis-understood what I said. All I said was that moose tags should be once in a lifetime regardless of whether it's a  "any moose" tag or an "antlerless" tag.

Why? So that when a person draws a any moose tag he can't apply and draw the antlerless tag the following year, or vice versa. How is it fair for some people to get to kill two (or more) moose in this state when most will never get the chance to hunt moose at all?

It's a lottery. Luck of the draw.  How is it "fair" that guys can buy the govenors tag or $20000 in raffle tags every year.  Life is not "fair". On a side note who is gonna want a cow moose as there oil.  The problem with the system is everyone has there own agenda. Bobcat don't get me wrong your idea makes sense, but in one thread you want to change the system and another you say lets make new rules.

I would take a cow moose as my one and only moose in Washington.

And I'm not one that wants to change the system. I'd rather they leave it alone. Last time they tried to improve it they made it drastically worse.

I've said the only change I really wouldn't mind is a waiting period on quality deer and elk tags.
