westport fishing report
« on: June 15, 2015, 12:26:06 PM »
Minus tides wind and poor fishing so far the bottom fishig has been okay but not much on the salmon if you want an updated dailey report go to WESTPORT CHARTER BOATS FISHING REPORTS. They have been good about posting there reports. There were a few fish on the bar about a week ago then dried up I have friends who have been trolling since april some of who have not landed a silver yet and they have been all over so hope something shows up real soon.

Please forgive the noob question but what is a minus tide?  We will be there for the 5th going out of Westport on the Slammer for a combo trip.

A tide lower than 0 mean feet. Minus tides mean big water movement, iffy fishing conditions and a sloppy bar on max Ebb.

Su 5     High   3:25 AM     9.2   5:28 AM     Set  9:56 AM
     5      Low   9:53 AM    -1.8   9:13 PM    Rise 11:29 PM
     5     High   4:42 PM     8.3
     5      Low  10:14 PM     1.6
It means your boat should leave at 5 am to avoid crossing near max ebb on an extremely low tide. Almost 2 feet below a 0 low.

Charter boats dont get held back by Coast Gaurd. They will go!

Really flat ocean looks good for this week-end most boats fishing between the wind mills and the willipa in 300 feet they had both kings and silvers there yesterday the north side is slow no bait showing but some boats fishing 4700 in 50 feet but not much charters fishing deep water lings out around 55 fathom west of the harbor  kids crabbing today fishing up to yellow bluff but not seeing any bait the trollers got out a couple days ago but I have;nt heard anything yet but maybe rumors but heard there were some fish coming our way out deep from the north.

We caught so many kings the last three days I actually had to stay home to rest. Trying to turn loose big kings is a work out we got our fish yesterday by GH and realesed 10 more mid-teen kings best fishing I have seen this early and now the tuna are showing in big numbers . Hope you can make it Pete and that Tony gets his motor soon see you on the water.

We were out today Mike Jerry came down to make up for the poor springer fishing and he put on a show for us. Landed over 20 silvers most all hatchery and a half dozen kings fished 145 feet about a half mile south of GH switched to spoons behind flashers and they still bit the same. Going out in the morning.

Realesed with plyers went through 4 dozen bait yesterday then went to spoons they fished just as well as bait. My hands are sore trying to hold the leader and unhooking kings need you to come down Pete. Chased a shark all over that we thought was a monster king that about spooled us but turned out to be a 5 foot or so shark. Looks not so good for weather tomorrow 7 feet at 8 seconds.
