How is the smell after that long of burn?

Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk

Well it's out side with a 5 mph wind all day.
But I could smell it the first three hours now nothing.
Nice...wish there was a little breeze here...only 107 right now!

Now I have learned something I had not thought of.

After 8 hours of burning the stove is filling up with ash.
I can see a bigger stove might let you push ash to the side more.

This is not a problem to me because I don't ever think I will burn this much this hot while I am in the tent.

It is 87 here now 2 ft from stove box it is 112.

I have thought of ash buildup before...figured midday clean out would be best if necessary

At 6 pm Decided the paint would not change on the wings so I took them off and laid them on top of stove.

There is about 4 inches of ash in the stove all red hot. I threw 3 pesto logs in to see what that would do.

The hottest part of the stove is through the middle .

13 hrs into it. All the pipe changed color except the very top one which ok since it is outside the tent. Filled up dampened it down and cut the air by half for the night.
See what's left in the am.

Dropped hot embers on mat. No effect.

Got up this am around 8.
Stove was warm to touch.

Raked the coals back. Open the air and damper.

Could have thrown a log in and got it to burn.

All in all happy with this stove. Think it will work just fine in tent.

Today clean stove up. And store away till rain comes.

My buddy will be burning a four dog once the fire restriction lift in Anacortes.

Thanks for the thread and great info, I am seriously thinking about ordering one.  My nedw wall tent came with a pellet feeding Riley stove, but Im not to fond of the riveted and light weight part of the Riley.  Rather have a heavy robust stove....

Question for ya did the top get glowing red?  Ive had a cylinder stove in the past warp on the top after getting really hot, was never flat again after that.

The top was red hot last night as well as places on the sides.
Took the finish off on the top.
As you can see still level across the top.

While puting the stove away today I picked up the mat and discovered a good burn hole though it.

Now that ember fell out while stoking and I in my over confidence let it lay where it fell.
Good to know the mat provides some floor protection. But something more will be needed.

The mat and metal tray that I got and showed you would not have had that happen. Would have protected your tent floor if that would have happened in the tent, where with your mat you would have a hole. But, I also feel in a camping situation you/anyone would be picking up coals that have fallen asap and would not burn the hole in any mat, including yours.

Your right. But I may try your suggestion as additional protection.

Looking for light and easy transport.
