I came back to Aberdeen for a few days Drove out to the 7400 and the gate was locked so a budy and I started the walk in and got about 2.5 miles in and had a shovel operator pick us up and he gave us a ride to the bridge. We get there and I throw on a pink corkie and pin it and float it and seen 2 fish swim after it but then they dipped down into a hole. So I can see them in front of me and I throw on a spinner and make 3 casts and bang fish on. I set the hook and the fish starts coming at me and so I start cranking in my reel handle and my drag starts going off and I can can't get any line on the reel and before I know it the fish jumps out of the air less then 15 feet from me and all I can see I chrome And it hits the water shakes it's head pops my hook out of its mouth. I was so upset. I fished for a few more hours and walked the 5 miles back to the road. Had a lot of fun and learned a few things about checking your drag before hitting the west side rivers.... Apparently a lose drag will help with catch catfish and carp but not steelys.
