Scouting the William O Douglas

Hey guys checking in on the elk page for the first time this year I got out and about with the ol lady over the weekend broke in some new hikers and explored some new and known areas for the first time and was presently surprised I spent 100% of my time above or at 5,000 ft  and was just hitting elk daily seeing things I've never seen including my very first elk shed and second elk shed 🙊 anyways first time my woman has been to this spot with me and first time ever hitting elk smelling elk hearing elk ! It was awesome we spooked a smallish heard at probably 25 yards and they took off in a quick hurry to see her face was priceless scared at first like what he heck was that ! Then the cows and calls started talking and her face lit up ! She's like all these years of hearing this on the damn tv ! I know what that sound is ! Hahaha that's a cow elk it was awesome and hilarious  we sat quietly and enjoyed the elk talk back and fourth for about 10 mins and then we moved on and she was hooked after that spotting old poop and then noticing fresher and fresher poop just catching on to everything . It was a good time ! I found the first shed it was a 5pt and about 2 hours later at 5400 ft elevation she was leading the way and she spotted a nicer 6pt shed ! She couldn't  fit her hands around it she was impressed at how large they are after all that time watching them on tv 😂😂 bottom like she had a great time which made me have an amazing time which equals an awesome time spend chasing elk and finding some sheds ! But one question for you guys out there is this scrape on the tree bear or elk ? Look at the tiny tree it's also freshly scraped ? Elk arnt rubbing for a few more months right??

Haha yea I guess she's not that old lol 😉😉 it was an awesome time ! Was extremely happy she enjoyed it and had a good time too she was a trooper for sure  beautiful country as well

I am pretty sure it found a match to one of those sheds earlier this year. Wish I ould of taken a picture of the shed before I sold it.

Hey dude, I've never shot an elk in the WOD wilderness area, but I've sure seen a bunch and had my fare share of chances.. Anyways, not sure where you hit it from, but PM me and I'll fill you in on a couple areas I've been to. I used to backpack up there all the time.. Cool pix btw.
