A few months ago, Lokidog had posted a popup camper for free in the classifieds, being somewhat of a sucker for a deal, and in the market for a camper, I decided to make the trip from Tri cities, to Decatur island!
unfortunately my schedule had me pretty busy from early june until just this last weekend, so I figured it was a lost cause, Loki was nice enough to not only hold on to the camper for me, but to do some needed repairs to make getting it off the island and onto a truck much easier!!!
Finally the weekend arrived, I worked graveyard shift from 630pm-7am the week before we left, getting off Friday morning, I ran home, got the truck ready to roll, took a hour nap or so and we were on the road, we hit traffic on I90, then again on the 405, then AGAIN coming through I5, putting us quite a bit behind schedule, Loki was nice enough to wait there for us to pick us up in his boat that night, and shuttle us to his home, where he proceeded to feed us, and had a bed all set up ready to go, absolutely amazing! (never had met him before this trip!)
Next morning we were up bright and early, and on the way out to the fishing grounds, where we were able to put 11 pinks, and 1 King in the cooler, I forget how many we tossed back, or how many shook the hook, but it was a VERY busy morning catching salmon in my book!
Back to Decatur, and we stopped at the crab traps, pulling in 3 limits of wonderful crabs! Heaven in my book.
Loki once again played the part of an amazing host, feeding us lunch, showing me a much better way to fillet out a fish, and boiling up all the crab. I sat down on the bed for what I meant to be about 5 minutes, and woke up hours later

Ate a great salmon dinner, fresh king was to die for, then hit the sack again.
Next day wasn't so hot on the fish, still caught a bunch, just couldn't seem to make em stay on the hook all the way to the boat, and even once, after netting, found a small hole in the net! But, the Orcas made an appearance, I have never seen one in the wild, we had what I think was 3 females and a male all around us, one even coming up close to the boat and blowing bubbles at us! totally amazing experience watching them in the water!
Alas, the time to leave was upon us, so we headed back in to the main land, loaded the camper (which was not simple!) and started the trek home.
I now have piles of fillets, and bags of crabs, this desert boy is eating good!
Loki, thanks so much for the hospitality, you and your family are amazing!
