 :(

Alarms seem to be worth the $$.  Our meat freezers are in the basement (living space) and the junk/bait freezer is in the garage.  Fortunately, they are so full that when one did accidentally get unplugged, it was still frozen a few days later -- good idea on keeping the empty space filled with jugs of ice.

Had a freezer full go out on me. Side of pork two weeks new, probably still 50# of elk, salmon and other misc. items. We had gone to Florida in August to visit the inlaws and Disney World with the kids., gone for 9 days. It was an August where that week the temps were in the 90's.

We got home and you could smell it from the driveway. Went it and opened it with instant gag and the freezer squirming with maggots... Barf!!, it was so bad I had to get a Tyvek suit and borrowed a training airpack and three bottles from work it was so bad.

  I hate losing meat.
There is no greater respect to have for wildlife than to harvest an animal fairly and use it's flesh to feed your family.  ~me

Sounds like you have a niche market for a side job.   :dunno: :yike: :puke:
