1st try at hummer pics
« on: July 22, 2015, 01:35:43 PM »
Finally got a couple hummers to show up in the yard so I got my first try at capturing them on the Nikon.
Wrong lighting on the last 2 pics, but kind of cool anyway, I was just happy I got one in flight and that it was mostly in focus.  :)

What are you talking about that last pict is awesome!  Stopframe Silhouette and can see thru his wings...

What sort of local length lens did you run?  Hummers here are gone if you get within 15yrds of them..

  I had one land on my chair last night and got the best look at one I've ever had.  Very cool.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Cool shots.  I had one zip past my head the other night.  Thought it was a giant bee til it kinda hovered in place about 4 feet away lookin around, then flew off.  We had these giant purple tower flowers, not sure what they were called but the humming birds were all over those for the couple weeks they were blooming.  Cool to watch them just zip around from flower to flower on those things.

Nock Nock those are some GREAT shots. Don't know what kind of Nikon but mines an old D 50 If you have a manuel settin try as low an Fstop  (4.0 or a 5+ what ever your camera will let you in manuel) and a shutter speed of 1/3000 or if it's real bright try 1/4000. The faster you're able to set your shutter speed the clearer you can get the wings.

Nikon D50

sigma 70-300 lens

f4

1/3000

very nice shots
