Potholes state park in moses lake, any good?
« on: July 28, 2015, 07:44:56 PM »
We have a short weekend planned potholes st park, without quads, just camping.  We are having second thoughts about camping there in the middle of August.  Is this a decent park, too hot, dusty, noisy with quads?  Planning a trip with two other family's and just don't want to sit in a dust bowl.  Already booked it so I'm looking at around 35.00 in cancelation fee's from the state, which is total crap.  What do you guys think about the place?  thanks

I am not a state park guy but I have stayed there due to friends situations.
You will not hear the bikes to much from there.  If you are daring text me and I will tell you a real cool place to swim
If its brown knock it down

Don't go to Mar Dons if you have a trailer with tip outs or over 24'.

The state park is nice   Just a lot of day trippers

The State Park is nice, you shouldn't have any issues

They have plenty of green grass, many shade trees, a playground for the little ones, and beach access. If you have a reserved spot, not tent camping, you will not be dealing with a dust bowl. You won't hear any quads running around as the dunes are across the lake but you may hear a speed boat or two cruising around.

Mar Don's is an okay place but they stack the rv's in tight, as mentioned earlier about the slide out issue. They have recently expanded but it is literally gravel and dirt with zero shade....not a better option for you in August  :twocents:

kc hit it rite.  nice place.   don't let kids stray to the north as the wasteway is fast and slick.  it does hold some big trout and some dandy carp.  mike w

Are you set on going to potholes? If you aren't quading then why did you pick there? Just curious

I had no idea that there was quad riding at the Potholes State Park. Is there a new place to ride? The ORV park is NE of the Potholes State park. Potholes State park should make for a relaxing weekend.

There isn't any riding near the State Park, you'd need to drive to Moses...unless you want to ride your golf cart, there are a ton of them cruising around near the State Park  :chuckle:

Are you allowed to have firearms on state parks?  I can't remember the rule on that.  Potholes would be a sweet one to stay at during duck season.

check out the sportsman's park between the state park and mar-don. they have a swimming pool and a game room, its a pretty layed back area. Has a store with gas and the Blyth boat launch is just down the road a bit.

Its a nice park. We went with our archery club and had a good time. I think its one of the nicer  parks to go to imo.
