Salt block timing

I went into a unit that I saw some cows and legal Bulls the other day. Today I put out a mineral block (sugar beat cube) and a game camera. I noticed that at my other site 20 miles away where I was planning on hunting the elk have all but abandoned my mineral lick.

Is there a best time or way to get them to come into specific areas? Is it already to late to try and get them to come into a new station? Is there something better that I should be putting out?

I rarely start a lick after June.. The amount of activity on salt really drops off by mid July

I agree. I usually run
 them from February to about mid July.

Year round.  Elk move a lot.  They are on our salt at any given time as they pass though and during their longer stays.

Ive found they dont like salt blocks much. They'll hammer those salt rocks and some trace minerals with selenium all through the summer though. Well into August.
