You kind of look familiar Crunchy, you didn't run into a blowdown fir tree before first light, on the main gate side, then decided on plan B did you?
No I don't hunt the main gate side much, usually bear only on the main gate side for me.

I could have gotten my permit pulled many times, no way I can make it to my spot an hour before light. I think that rule sucks, the walk in gate I hunted, my spot was 6 miles in. Took me about 2.5 hours to make it to the far clear cut, glad I never got caught but I was full aware of the consequences.

Clyde was at the gate this am and said he saw a big 4pt in the road at 2 am.  So he must be cruising around looking for guys.  Got checked by the warden tonight.

I agree 100%  they don't give you enough time to  get way in the back of the farm and walk or ride behind a gate 6 miles. Also getting out is like an 1 hour after sunset and I hunt until it is dark and you have to reverse the process to get out. I am glad there is a gate but wish they would extend the times a little

:yeah: I forgot to mention I have several times had to come out late.  Stupid rule.

It was another slow day today.  I was part of the line of trucks waiting to get in, but not too early to get nabbed by Clyde.  Lucky some guy in a red older Toyota drove out the gate and told us what Clyde was up to.  Glassed hard from first light til 12 and only saw two does.  What I hate about the convoys of trucks lined up at the gate is that unless you are at the front of the line someone will probably beat you to your spot.

I went in at 7, didn't see hardly anyone. Saw one 2 point and 7 does. The buck was rutting pretty hard chasing the does around. Watched them for an hour.

They have never had any problem pulling permits from rule breakers.
Loosing a 375.00 permit for going in a little early sounds a bit harsh, but who knows.
Bet most were given a warning.

Weyerhaeuser's rule is 1 1/2 hours before sunrise and 1 1/2 hours after sunset.

Think a lot of it has to do with keeping people without a pass out. Good way to catch them entering or leaving. Have a feeling people bring UA hunting partners. Of course pretty common wayerhaeuser and Hancock leave gates open all they for work crews anyhow :)
Is what it is.

Was up Saturday seen a couple elk and glasses a couple does down in a bottom no buck following pretty slow.. Worked the timber for a bit and found a small 5 point bull shed that was pretty sweet.

My son and I hunted hard this weekend and scored a forked horn, spike, bobcat and a coyote.  Great weekend and some great shots that we will remember forever.  Doing our part to thin the predators, which are in high abundance.
