My better half found a Utube video that showed how to hook up a herring so it looked life-like with a half hitch around its mouth. PS. ask at a local sporting goods store what to get for jetty, and take a net and shoes that don't slip on slimy rocks.
I use 25lb main line, slip bobber with 1oz weight, 20lb leader with your barbless 2 hook slip mooching rig. Use whole herring or anchovies. Fish about 10 feet down. I Was down there 2nd week of August and limited everyday on Coho.

We were planning for tomorrow, unfortunately the chinook fishery is now closed for buoy 10, but we're still gonna try for some coho. I was really looking forward to some chinook and better forcasted weather. But I can always just back track fish off the hwy.
I believe on the jetty it goes by ocean or river rules. So probably open for Chinook. But best check to be sure.
Herring or anchovies under a float fished about 6-7ft and not very far out off the rocks works good. We actually free-drift herring with no weight and crush em. Spinners work consistently and better than bait some days.
You can keep 2 chinook off the jetty now, hatchery or wild.....as far as gear, herring or anchovies under a float fished about 6-7ft and not very far out off the rocks works good. We actually free-drift herring with no weight and crush em. Spinners work consistently and better than bait some days. It's packed down there this year with half the jetty closed for repairs and has been getting more crowded every year anyway.
