It's a shooter!!!
« on: January 14, 2009, 07:14:58 PM »
Bought a Ruger M77 MKII heavy target in 220 swift about a month ago right before the storm and finally got her sighted in. WOW!!! That thing is a tac driving machine! Loaded up two loads for it to try and they were both awesome. The first was a 52 grn BTHP and I printed groups under an inch and the second was a 36 Varmint Grenade Load that was flat AWESOME. It's shooting those in just barely under 1/2 inch groups! I've never bought a used rifle until I bought this so I was a bit scared but I'm just loving this thing.

I'm really excited to get that thing out into the wheat fields.

It seems a lot of people don't care for Ruger's but I love em. I have the same gun except in .243 but it came with a 27' barrel. I swapped out the trigger for a Rifle Basix single stage and replaced the stock with a Boyd's thumbhole with the smaller forend and bedded it. It can shoot .5 moa all day long.  I would recommend the trigger swap if you ever decide to tinker with it. You're going to be impressed with that caliber too.  :twocents:

I actually have the same rifle in 22-250. It shoots circles around my buddies winchester coyote. I don't like the weight, but they are definately killers and very easy to shoot well.

Now the dilema, do I sell the 22-250?  :bash:

Why sell it you need two guns so one can cool down while you shot the other :chuckle:

Thanks! I just looked at the ballistics and that little 36 grainer would scream outa my .223. I'll have to try them out. Im curious to see how accurate they would be out of my Tikka.

Everybody has dropped the 220. I got mine used. I wish I had bought one a long time ago, always wanted to but they kept getting harder to find. Came across this one in good shape and snatched it up.

I'm going to decide soon. Look in the classified occasionally. I've got a friend who likes it but not sure he'll be able to buy it. Anywho, I promise it's a shooter as well and it loves everything you feed it although I only really ever used handloads. Just can't justify having the same rifle in two calibers. I may be interested in a trade. We'll see. Got a .260 or a .44 Blackhawk? Nice 1911? Oops I'm getting ahead of myself.  :chuckle:

What scope did you go with?
Didn't see that before. I took the Burris 4.5 X 14 from the 250 and put it on the swift.
