That was my plan for this bow season.  So far I’ve spent countless hours watching squirrels and birds ….it gets boring, tiresome, uninteresting, tedious, dull …. :o

I may try again on Friday, Sat, Sunday or until I go insane.

I've never hunted elk from a tree stand but I have a buddy who has and does pretty well doing so.

It does get boring... really boring but it sure is nice if you are out of shape or have an injury to the lower body that hurts when you hike
Why cant hunting season be everyday

I've been hunting elk from a tree stand this year and its awesome when they are moving. When they are holed up, it is an awful lot like watching grass grow. I seen four Bulls opening day, two that were not legal, and two too far away to shoot. Other two times I've been in the stand, it's been lonely.

I'd say the name of the game for hunting elk in tree stands is log as much time in it as possible. But if they are not moving, or there is no sign that elk are using that area, you could be wasting your time as well. It's a tough call.

They can work great if you have elk that follow a fairly regular pattern.  I've shot one from a tree stand.

One word of advice would be to have your stand set up so you can get out quickly and quietly if you need to make a move on an animal that won't close the distance.  I had a bear once at 54 yards but I could not get down from my tree as I would be totally exposed to him.
