New Muzzy shooters?

I was talking with a buddy yesterday developing plans B, C, and D due to some knee pain I am afraid it will keep my out of my regular muzzy elk area.  He said he couldn't believe the number of people at the range shooting BP and sighting in new guns.  I have to ask how many new to muzzy guys or been away few years guys are there this year?

I usually hunt muzzie for WA. I got my brother started this year & he loves shooting. He can't wait to go hunting this year. We got Westside Timber Company passes. He'll go with me & deer hunt while I try to fill my muzzie bull tag.

I've gone to the Tacoma Sportsman Club 4-5 times this year so far & saw only one other person shooting a muzzleloader.

I've archery hunted elk for 12 years. 3 bulls and 4 cows. With the new areas that are opening up for muzzle,(especially the area I archery hunt) was a no brainer plus I wanted to hunt with something different for a change. And it gave me a great excuse to finally buy one this year even tho my wife didn't agree with my new toy purchase over the summer.

 I hope the area i hunt isn't too crowded come Oct.3 . I usually go a mile or two deep from the nearest road and never see anyone. I have a hard time believing this will change with all the new muzzy guys like myself out there.

All I hunt in WA is muzzy, my wife two brothers there wife's and two others in are group as well.

A lot of guys have fun until it's time to clean the muzzleloader...  And it does make for slower shooting at the range, usually, so I think that keeps the overall numbers down.  That said, I think muzzy hunting is growing in popularity.

The increase in people with the new units should be that much of an impact. However, I am concerned about people wounding animal due to not enough load development or practice. I typically go back far enough that people are completely cautious about other hunters and will generally stay clear of a drainage or two.  This year I'll have to plan to see those only willing to get 3 to 5 miles behind gates.

I've spent the last 3 years hunting 117 during Modern Firearm Elk and haven't got one yet. They are hard to find. It will be my first year hunting with my Muzzy. I'll be up here in NE Washington looking for the Elk and Muleys. Spent a TON of time scouting this year and hope it pays. I can't wait for OCT 3!!!! I switched to Muzzy thinking there will be better chance with less hunting pressure and MAYBE they will still be talking a bit.

I switched to muzzy about 15yrs ago...ouch! pains me to know that I can say that!
 My brother and I got tired of the pumpkin patch and bullets flying by.
  A broken elbow and damaged growth plates in said elbow when I was about 10, put the option of archery out of the question.
So muzzy it was.
 Financial reasons  have kept me away the last 2 years
Things are better now and I'm chomping at the bit to load up and put the hammer down...pun intended.

This will be my 2nd year muzzy deer hunting and 1st year for muzzy elk.  Always rifle hunted, but got sick of the sea of orange.  Last year I drew a multi-season tag, borrowed my brothers muzzy and got my buck the first morning out.  I was hooked!  I've spent the last year learning as much as I can about it, got a gun for Christmas and have practiced, practiced practiced.  I can't wait for Oct 3!!

 My second year muzzy hunting for deer, first for elk and drew both a cow and a quality bull tag. The increase at the range could be because a lot of guys are hitting the range instead of out on public land due to fires and restrictions on target shooting.

  My biggest reason for switching is because the seasons lined up better with time off and other things going on the last two years.
