Just watched the videos of the Hopper on their website.  Don't think you will catch me packing a 40# purse to the top of a mountain.  Think they are crazy!  But the next time I am asked the question, "What do you get a guy that has everything?" I now have an answer.  Because even the guy who has everything ain't crazy enough to spend $350 on a cooler purse :chuckle:

I do love my Tundra coolers though.  Wish I could find another 50% off deal so I could rationalize buying a few more!

How big of a cooler are you looking for. I bought a soft shell igloo the had a hard plastic liner when I take it to work it holds up well but its the perfect size to with the liner removed to fit inside my day pack to keep snacks for the kids cool.

If you want to go real cheap Trader Joes has a insulated hand bag it is lined with vinyl with a zipper.  It is was about 10 bucks last time I got one very handy to throw a couple things in and a great kill bag for trout. It is about the size of a big grocery bag.

I have never used a soft sided cooler that didn't leak.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but give me the big blue plastic coleman any day. None of that wheels nonsense either. You want 64 cans of beer at your beach fire? You CARRY 64 cans of beer down that craggy hillside to your beach fire. Then you will have earned them.

I have never used a soft sided cooler that didn't leak.

Me either, until a couple months ago. I was looking for a soft-sided cooler for my Dakota. My border collie likes to lay up near the armrest between the front seats. We needed something that would fit in the space between the front seats and the back seat that was strong enough that she could lay on.
Target had these

http://www.target.com/p/igloo-maxcold-hard-liner-cooler-12/-/A-15373008#prodSlot=medium_1_8&term=cooler

Cheap, strong enough, and perfect size for what I needed. My wife left a bag of ice in it after a road trip. A week later, the ice was of course melted and it was 2/3 full of water, but no leaks!
So far so good, and for the price I can't complain.

I bought an igloo Max Cold at Target a while back that's soft sided with a hard plastic insert that works like a champ. If it gets lost or destroyed in out $20.

I have  columbia pfg soft sided coolers that are awesome.  They have internal "bags" if you want to put actual ice in them without it leaking.  They're what we use to get our fish home from Mexico in.  Just packed with frozen fish and no cooling devices, they stay frozen for over 14 hrs in Mexico heat. I highly recommend.
