Yes you have to buy a permit for $40 I believe is the fee.You can buy in Northport at MORNING BEAR COFFEE If you stop in Spokane than you can buy from WHITES BOOTS. The phone number is online. You may be able to buy other places as well, but yes you are correct you need the permit. You can also take a few cords of wood if you wanted. There is IEP land all over, awesome deer hunting on foothills of Mt. Spokane to the farm lands of the Columia Plateau. It's well worth the $. Bring your shotguns to, there are grouse everywhere.

I don't mind the fee one bit it seems to keep out some of the problem people at least on the west side of the state where meth seems to run rampant.

There's a TON of meth attics in Spokane, it's a HUGE problem. It's like the Walking Dead, lol
Hope you do well, I have made some great memories in Northport and seen alot of beautiful animals. It's a cool place to be and very close to the Canadian border. Good of a bear spot as any if you ask me for spot and stalk.

Ok so here I am getting dressed and I can't decide which sidearm goes with my hat! Lol but on a serious note we always hear about wolves and Grizzlies up in the northeast corner, are either of them actually a problem or are they more like ghosts that you'll never see? In other words, do I need the .460 or is my typical .40 cal ok?

Your 40 is fine, all I have for sidearm is a 9mm. Only seen one grizz and it was up on the border heading into Canada. I usually just pack my aught 6.

I'm sure between the two of us there will be a small Arsenal in the truck. I always have a "camp rifle" which is usually my mini 14. And if we're gonna spend the better part of the week out there, we might need a few others for grouse and yotes and hopefully we'll call in a cougar or find one on a gut pile. Wish I had t chosen modern for deer or I'd take the muzzle loader for them. I really just wanna say thanks to TGOMEZ. even if we don't put anything down, I'm sure I'll be able to a show a friend and coworker of mine a good time. This will be different hunting than we're both used to, I've hunted Pennsylvania for 20 years and he's hunted Michigan for ten. But really just a big thanks!!

Ltzchris18. Thanks for your service.
I am quite familiar with the Mitchell mountain area as my parents lived in northport.
Lots of good hunting up that way.
Iep land goes to Canada...just a warning..there are no notices or sign I believe that say Canada.
I could be wrong..(I do have priors).
I have seen some big blonde bears..and huge whitetails up that way.
Good luck!

Your Welcome it was a pleasure to help you two out. And the Canadian/US border is clearly marked with these little "stainless steel" looking posts, on one side says US other side of post says Canada. It is also a swath clear cut border that you cant miss that seperates US/Canada. Ill try to dig up a picture of those posts when I get out of my classes here at SCC.

Well we're headed back. Saw one bear on private land only. Talked to a few locals who said the fires ran off a lot of the Bears. Saw one that was shot and left a few days ago. Saw an elk carcass that had the straps cut out of it and the head taken and left. Called wdfw on both of those issues. Other than that beautiful country limits on grouse all three days. Saw a bunch of coyotes and turkey on private land. I'll be back again just not sure when. Thanks all the help guys.
