He had a blood clot removed from his brain this afternoon. It had blocked bloodflow to the left side of his brain for five hours. This affects his right side and speech motor functions. Like with any stroke, they really know nothing. He's lucid and able to answer questions with his eyes. His wife's a basket case. This is incredibly tough for both of them. I'm very sad but I can type and talk. That's all I have. Thank all of you for your kindness, which I'll certainly pass along.

You - and possibly your friend (when appropriate) might enjoy watching this. A dear friend, and former colleague had two back to back strokes about 18 months ago resulting in impaired speech and reduced motor dexterity. Lance (in the video) and I make a living pitching digital strategy and creative work so there's an expectation that we can describe a solution in a vivid way. The video he recently created tackles his own fears in his own way.

Best wishes to your hunting partner, his family and you. The coming months will be hard and many tears will be shared but the strength of friendship really makes a difference and I assure you it will help him through the tough days ahead.

Thanks, Netminder. I'll watch this and forward to his wife.

This morning, his CT showed that the pressure on his brain is reduced, so he doesn't need to have skull removed as they'd feared. He's now saying a couple of words and able to move a little on his right side - all positive reports today.

Quick update. I went and spent some time with Bruce yesterday. He's doing better., speaking a couple of words and no real tremors like he was having. He indicated his right hand is still numb but not the rest of his right side. There's no drooping in his face and his tongue is straight, so he needs to relearn how to speak and get on his feet. His head seems to be all there and that's wonderful. Overall a very positive visit. I'll probably go back tomorrow.
