Grandpa's lucky hat buck
« on: October 18, 2015, 12:04:28 PM »
We lost my wife's grandpa in late August. He gave my wife all of his old hunting gear last spring. We were going through his pack and found one of his old hats. I told my wife she should wear it for deer and elk season this year.
My oldest boy stayed home with our little girl yesterday so I decided to let him head up with Amanda today. I stayed home and played Mr. Mom. At about 0730 my wife's ring tone blasted on my phone and I knew she had something on the ground. Double lung shot and went down within 30 yards.
It is not the biggest but is her biggest and we are not horn hunters. This is Amanda's fourth deer in five years and her third deer taken on October 18th.
Thank you grandpa. We love you and miss you.

My wife's grandpa was her hero! She said "YAY grandpa luck!!", congrats! When I built my wife her garden shed in February I used as many of her late grandfather's tools as possible, it meant a lot to her

Wow, that's super cool!  Looks like she's continuing on her grandpa's legacy   I lost my hunting grandpa too and I know he's 'helped' me get my last few bucks!  Congrats!
