I would like to get better and skinning and butchering. The gutting, well that you just do.

If anyone within maybe an hour of Seattle is skinning and butchering a deer that has a skill for it, let me know. If my schedule permits would like to witness. Will help.

Writing this on Sunday 10/18 and could not make it over today though.

Linds meats in auburn will let you come in and wrap your meat with the butcher plus it's 25 cents of a lb for the cut and wrap

The Kentucky Game and Fish department used to sell a DVD for like $10 that goes through pretty much everything except caping. Not sure if they still sell it but it was a great learning tool for me.

I spoke to them last week and was told that they are getting away from allowing customers to come in and wrap.  And their charge to cut/wrap is more like 80 cents/lb.

There are lots of youtube videos on skinning and cutting. Some good, some bad, and some downright funny.

that was suppose to say 25 cents off a lb sorry about that... oh and I was just in there with my deer for archery season and they asked me if I wanted to come in and wrap it strange something must of happened for them to quit doing it in such a short amount of time... well thanks for the info

:yeah: Plus, do you know any chefs? Lots of good chefs do their own butchering and the cuts are basically the same between ungulates. Here's a great video on butchering a deer.
