Great opening weekend! Masher Republic buck
« on: October 22, 2015, 12:01:16 PM »
Had a great weekend camping with my wife, girls and dad. We put on about 10 boot miles (lot of walking for little ones) and around 100 miles of logging roads. We managed to see 5 muley does, 1 spike muley and a few whitetails in 3 days that where on public lands. We really wanted to find a legal mule deer so we stayed pretty high up. Not sure if that was a good idea being it was so dry this year. One of these years we will find a solid 4x for the wall. Tons down low on private. The masher we watched for about 10 min was in someone's garage in Republic  :chuckle: We also saw around 20 other does a few smaller bucks walking around town. I would have been a little nervous if that buck was hanging out in my garage.

I'm poor and have a cheap camera... :chuckle:

He was sure kicked back in that garage though..
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I was telling my wife if I seriously could have found that deer any other place I could make the pics look pretty good but the background is horrible  :chuckle: When we first drove past him he was sleeping.

About 2 years ago around the same time of year, my husband and I were doing a little shopping in Republic. I told him to take the back way out of town so I could see all the town deer. After we took a right on Klondike road about 50-60 yards up the road was a pretty nice muley buck, that looked about like the one on here, was ripping the crap out of someone's yard. He was just rooting it up like a plow. We were laughing our butts off, it was super funny. By the way, nice pictures!
$5 is a lot of money if you ain't got it

This buck lives by the hospital in republic. Watched him.since velvet. Hangs out with 2 forked horns. You can pretty much feed these bucks by hand.

Sweet pics BTW. He would never lift his head straight up to get a good picture like yours. You see the monster forked horn that is atleast 26" wide up there?

I'd set up a blind behind that old tailgate.  Deer wouldn't even think of looking there.
