Halloween blacktail

Well after hunting hard and seeing family and friends harvest deer it felt good to finally bring one down, especially on the last day of the season. Walking past the gate at 7:30am I knew we were going to get soaked to the bone. After what seemed to be 3 or 4 miles in, we finally came to a clear cut that was worth glassing. About a half hour of sitting and not seeing much I decided I had nothing to lose so I went stomping through the cut figuring if something was bedded it would kick it up. Halfway down the cut I put up my binos to look around and about 150 yards to my left I could barely make out a face and antlers through some brush. I didn't want to take a shot off hand so I took my time and found a nice stump to rest on. I figured he would've been gone by the time I got my rest but he was still there staring at me. Since all I could see was his head I brought the cross hairs down to where I figured his vitals would be and I let one fly. All I remember seeing was the mist in the air from my bullet flying through the brush and I got a little nervous thinking I'd missed him. I went to where I thought I'd shot him and there was nothing. I went deeper into brush and found a big pool of blood where he'd been hit and about five yards to my right he was down. He's no monster buck but being it was the last day and I would've been happy with a spike, I couldn't be happier

Well done! Nice move trying to blow one out of hiding. It paid dividends yesterday!
