Hints for Manson unit?
« on: November 05, 2015, 07:12:35 PM »
My wife and I bought a little place in Manson...downtown near the Red Apple market. Although I have hunted the east side quite a bit, mostly near Curlew / Republic I haven't had time this year to do much scouting in the Manson unit. Without giving away any secret spots, can anyone suggest a starting place to look around the Manson area? Thanks!

What exactly are you hunting the late archery deer? If so thats a tough hunt with plenty of people just driving around. Then a little bit of road closures

Very crowded hunt.  Takes some work to get away from folks.  Deer are pushed a lot.  That being said Ive killed a couple nice ones.  The last one stood along side the road like a beef cow.   Not very impressive.

I'm mainly looking to get something in the freezer. This weekend I did some scouting and found some Muley does but they are safe this year. The odds of finding a 3 point or better buck are slim too so that leaves Whitetailswhich are 'any deer'.

But I haven't been able to locate any whitetails along the north side of the lake to the Antilon lake / Joe Creek etc.  Are there any Whitetails south of the Methow line?

In 2006 had the entiat tag ran into a 5x5 whitetail in Mud Creek area. He was running with 2 muley bucks and some does. They are around. I would have smoked him if i had the chance.

I shot a whitetail buck in the Entiat a few years back.  He was running with a bigger WT buck but didn't get a shot at him.  This was also in the mud creek area.
