.300 H&H

Anybody handload for this. I have one and I need to reload. I purchase the cheapest ammo at Sportco and it was $60.00 a box.

The weatherby is about the same.  I reload for the 300 weatherby.  I think the H&H is the parent cartridge of the weatherby round.

I save a LOT of money reloading for my weatherby.  I imagine youll save a lot too.

Yes I also reload my .300 wby. It is quite accurate. I am hoping that someone has some good reload data they are willing to share. If not I will be starting from scratch I guess.

Do you have any reloading manuals?  I have several.  I am always afraid of using loads that I get off the internet lol.  I reloaded some 38 special rounds like that.  After I shot a couple I calmed downa  little.  It was the first ones I reloaded fo rthe 38 with that powder.  The bullet data was hard to find and wasnt in any books.

If you want I can look in one or two of books to see about reload data.  I dont reload for the 300 HH though.

Yes I have the Speer, Hornady and Barnes manuals. I just need to dig them out of storage. You are doing a good thing by steering me away from using data posted with out checking a manual. Thank you.

The last thing anybody would want is their gun blowing up and killing and or injuring themself and possibly others.

After I posted that I was thinking how stupid that would be. It would be very easy to accidently have a typo and then have a load that is way over maximum. That would not be good.

I have looked on the internet and found some ammunition for it for around $44.00 a box but I think I could still reload 20 rounds for about $10.00. It's been awhile since it reloaded my Wby, as I have been mostly archery hunting the past few years, so I am a little out of touch with the current cost of components.

44 dollars is pretty good deal, but you have to factor shipping in too.  I havent found 44 dollar ammo locally.  I bought all my reloading stuff and loaded up 200 rounds and if I had bought the rounds would have costed me 600 dollars probably.  Ive reloaded a LOT of pistol rounds too with trading brass and other stuff for cast boolits.

My 300 weatherby is just about stuffed tothe gills when I put the bullet init.  I wouldnt try it but I think you could get away with dipping the brass in the powder and filling it up and still be shrapnel free, but I would not recommend it or try it.  My 38 special case filled with bullseye would probably take your hand off lol.  I calls for a few grains but will hold a lot lot more.

I was always curious how the 300 HH was.  Does it kick hard, it is pretty accurate?

Yes it kicks hard. I have only fired it with the Iron sights so no idea what it shoots like yet.

Yes my wby is loaded up about as hot as you can get it. I am using 86 grains of RE 22 to push a 165 grain Hornady innerbond to 3455 fps and 84 grains to push a 180 grain Balistic tip to 3260. Have had sub 1 inch groups with both loads.

I don't ever worry about seating depth due to the free bore on the weatherby.

I dont worry about seating depths either.  I havent tried to get it out further to get closer to the rifling.  I just oal it to what the bullet manufacturer says.  I shoot the best groups with 180 grains but 130 grains are very accurate too.  Mine doesnt like anything in between those two, although it sstill pretty close in those bullet weights for hunting.
