Need area help

First time hunter and not sure where to go over here on the west side. Want to stay some what local like with in 2 hrs of Tacoma. Any help?

Modern firearm season? If so, it's kind of late to buy a Weyerhaeuser pass. So I would suggest the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

rifle, not sure what areas are open ... but Gifford Pinchot as mentioned has lots of elk.. south of Randle, about 1.5-2 hours from Tacoma... the farther in ya go, the better...  if your looking at late Archery... Wynoochee has some nice herds up near the park...
