Hi all!  I am new to the forum and new to muzzleloading.  Amazing resource you all have built here!

I am about to purchase my first front-end-loader and had pretty much settled on a DISC Extreme 50 cal; reading through the forum reinforces that as a reasonable choice.  I do have a few questions though...

(1) I live and hunt in ID.  <eeek!>  Our regs require either use of round ball or conicals, all lead.  No sabots or belted.  The Knight owners manual says " Warning:  Knight Rifles does not recommend the use of non-saboted lead projectiles.  These bullets can easily be moved from the powder charge....obstructed barrel....explosion....."  Anyone shooting lead had any problems?  Is this just Knight being overly cautious from a legal perspective and wouldn't it be the same for any muzzleloader? Is there any reason I should worry about this?  Any special precautions to take?

(2) I hunt both whitetails and elk.  Bear's not off the plate either if I happen to see one.  Anyone have any recommendations regarding a good load and projectile combination given the regulatory limitations here (no belted, no sabot)?  Most commonly available seem to be Hornady Great Plains 385 gr and TC Maxiball 320 or 370 gr.  I also found one from Parker called the Traditional Hunter at 440 grains.  Like any of these?  Other recommendations to try?

Thanks all!
Matt

Ok.....I have been continuing my self-edumakation via the search function and I think I found some answers regarding conicals.  Here's what I've piece together:

Projectile:  Dave's No Excuses or Bull Shop
Lube:  NASA
Powder: 777
Use a patch between powder and projectile.

Is a 100 gr charge a reasonable place to start for building the load out?

I would start a 90gr 3f 777 with the heavy gr bullets
I was shooting 110gr 3f 777 with a 300 grain bullet
