Hunting around SEA?

Looking to take my fiance duck/goose hunting for the first time. I usually hunt in Eastern WA around Spokane so I am clueless when it comes to Western WA. Is there anywhere within an hour drive or so from Seattle that we could hunt without a boat? We both have chest waders so a little water wouldn't be an issue.

Up toward Skagit or down toward Nisqually I think are about your only choices other than a pond or two to jump shoot that I'm not aware of. Good luck to ya.

How did you find hunting spots in spokane? It's no different on this side. Expect public land to be an s show on weekends.

Smith farms just east of Stanwood. You would have to be there around 2am to get a blind though. Honestly going to eastern WA would most likely make it a better experience then dealing with sky busters and people that want to set up fifty yards from you.

Good waterfowl hunting spots are all a closely guarded secret.  Once they are posted on the internet those spots very quickly become not so good.

Stillwater sucks … because it way too well known, same for most other spots that are mentioned in public forums.

So what folks have been trying politely to tell you is, go find your own spots and then keep them closely guarded.

It's been 35 years since I hunted the valley. My dad use to call Cherry valley and Still water going to the dog fight. Even that long ago it was a zoo!

There is also ebey island. Not sure how good it is, and could be quite the hike in... since its near everett its the only other place that fits the bill.
As other have said scouting is key to duck hunting. With your parameters your going to spend more time looking for a spot than hunting in one...
It would be pretty sweet to do a sea duck hunt in layout boats off alki point tho!

Try Spencer Island, just north of Everett.  The north half is owned by DFW.  15 shell limit.  Easy access...
