« on: December 08, 2015, 06:57:00 PM »
I'm looking for a QUALITY/COMFORTABLE shoulder holster setup
I have a gun show special that sucks donkey balls

So, right handed, Glock 29, want 2 mags on the off side.

Looking online, I think Fobus, but what do you guys like that is comfortable to wear?

I have been shopping for my kid he picked up a Springfield Emp and looking for a right hand strong/crossdraw.

Found these but the factory is closed until after the holidays.  So his Daughter might just have to give him a rain check.

Last Saturday I had a budding young gun salesman tell me I would have to replace leather every year since they wear out and get loose.
I did not know that and it appears neither do many of my holsters. He did suggest I might want to wash them to tighten them up.
The young man had never heard of Bianchi but was all about selling me some kydick holster. The one he suggested looked like a truss.

I would agree with CAMPMEAT only get a good quality leather holster. I've been  :bash: my head since I sold a 1911 with a great leather Safariland. I've been using Uncle-Mikes etc. and they don't compare.  :twocents:

There were 2 at Sportsman Warehouse last Saturday.  He was the one who bought it and I have no idea where he got his taste in guns from. He has been looking for over 2 years since he fondled one. Seems he got bit.

I applaud your choice of a Glock 29, but my personal experience is that a shoulder holster gathers a lot of dust. I have a Galco Miami and haven't used it in years. Shoulder carry sounds good at first, but gives way to belt options. The Miami works ok, but is a pain in the rear and never gets used when I have belt/IWB options.

We have a Galco half harness somewhere in the house that gets worn maybe once a year if its lucky. Usually if I'm wearing athletic wear and a belt is impractical.  It only carries a small, light weight .38 Special. Honestly I'd rather throw the gun in my pocket. As to Johnny Rebel's comment I'm a pretty fit guy and I still hate the feeling of a gun in my arm pit. Besides, who wants to flag their brachial artery when transitioning the weapon from the holster to addressing the threat?  :bdid:

I might feel different if it had the belt clips or maybe a magazine on the other end to balance the weight out. But then again, I don't NEED a magazine on the other side of my belt (though usually one is there) in order for my pants to feel balanced. The only way I see myself using this is if Miami Vice ever calls me for an interview or I get a hip/waist injury and carrying on my belt is impractical.  :twocents:

Nice looking rig there Pman....

The inlay over the pistol and the mag is ostrich skin. It cost me $140 or so with shipping and took a month.

Galco "Miami Classic".

A shoulder or cross draw holster may save your hindend some day if you ever need to draw from the seated position. Especially in a vehicle, right handed persons carrying on the strong side actually have to lean towards the threat at the driver side window to draw.

I have a shoulder holster that I've been wearing for 40 yrs.  I got it for the trapline as I ran water lines on rivers and spent all day jumping in and out of the canoe in waders and a belt holster just doesn't work with waders.  It also works better with a backpack.  Mine is marked S&W Model 4334 a spring loaded break front and worked well with my Model 34 and 13 Smiths, 4" Charter Arms and Taurus 41 Tracker.  When I was working the Seattle rail yards it was out of the way climbing rail cars and getting in and out of the truck.  A belt holster used to want to drag my pants down until they got uncomfortable on long hikes.

I was hunting coyotes near the MX border in AZ and the warden down there suggested I start packing a handgun so I picked up a Glock 19 and a paddle holster and that has proven to be quite comfortable but again with a pack with a waist belt a shoulder holster would be better.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Love mine.

That's the one I ended up ordering. It changed from 1 week to 6-8 weeks delivery, so I cancelled, and ordered from another company (same holster)

BTW, comments from others have strongly recommended this company for holsters.  I should have it Monday

Precisely why I use the bra holster!  :yike:
