Spring bear after the fire?
« on: December 21, 2015, 05:39:39 PM »
My bear spot burned up this summer. I didn't get a chance to get back up there to check it out before the snow fell, so I have no way of checking it out before the app. period starts. According to the maps, the area was completely engulfed.

Assuming it burned up, will the Bears still be in there? Will all the new grass that sprung up after the fire keep them in the area?

Would I be better off to put in for points until I can get a chance to scout it out?

Any ideas?

Might be good. It should have lots of fresh plants for the bears. You never know it is with a try. A buddy talked to DNR back in October and He said I you want a bear hunt the burned areas.  There were lots of bears feeding on the BBQ cows that died. So I think it should be full of fresh plants to. Good Luck and Happy Hunting

It seems most of the burns have areas that are lightly burnt or missed entirely by the flames. These spots should provide cover and feed.I would think it could by worth hunting.  :twocents:

I found a creek bed that was surrounded by a burn this year, but was virtually untouched. Tons of bear sign. I think it would be worth checking out. Stay close to the water sources, glass, call, and enjoy.
