Hunting GMU 666 for Elk in Jan
« on: January 14, 2016, 11:13:00 AM »
I have special Elk Permit for Jan in GMU 666. I am trying to find a place and the only place that I have found that is not on private property is the Scatter Creek Wildlife Management and the West Rocky Prairie Wildlife Management areas. I have seen sign in the West Rocky Prairie management area but haven't been to Scatter Creek area.

No elk in the Scatter Creek wildlife area. Could be an occasional elk in the private forest land adjacent to the wildlife area, but I wouldn't waste my time.

An elk permit for GMU 666 is going to be very tough to fill, if you're not someone with access to private land with a known elk herd.

Hopefully someone can help you out but this is one of those permits that is not worth having unless you already know where the elk are and have access to private land.

:yeah: and I don't know of any of them that allow access to people other than family members. My dad has property adjacent to one of the well known herds, but they typically hang out on the thousands of acres in the opposite direction, so I don't even waste my time applying.  :twocents:
