Need some help planning my wyoming elk trip!
« on: January 28, 2016, 04:07:37 PM »
So I have to apply for drawings by the 31st. I'm going to be staying with a friend who lives in Rock Springs, wyo.

I know that I couldnt draw unit 100 with no preference points.

Anyone have some input on other units that I should target around there? 98? 124? 30??

And also, if I don't get drawn, do I get refunded the $590 for the tag?

Any advice is appreciated.

General units in the area.  You do get a refund less application fee.  I need to start collecting points for the 100.

On you when you hunt if born on or after January 1, 1966. You need an official document from the state where you took it.

A. Wyoming grants reciprocity for persons who have completed hunter safety courses in other states. Hunters must have on their person the certificate or card from the state where they took hunter safety when they are hunting. Hunter safety is required of most hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1966.

1966??

Get Safe. Get Certified. It’s the Law!
Who Needs the Certificate?
Any person born on or after January 1, 1966, unless he or she has obtained a Hunter Mentor Program special authorization from the state and is hunting with a mentor.

I understand that just curious if we could apply for tags and what not or do we have to send in our proof somehow. Now I'm interpreting it as we can buy tags just need our proof with us while hunting

Yes you only need to have it with you while hunting. Don't need it to purchase your license/tags.

You will be refunded your 591.00 minus 14.00 for the application fee if you do not draw.

I believe there is also a fee if you want the preference point, $50 for elk, $30 for antelope and $40 for deer.

$641 if you apply now and include a preference point. You may also purchase it separately in the summer for $50.
