Spring snow goose hunt
« on: February 08, 2016, 11:33:59 PM »
Anybody ever do a spring snow goose hunt? Sounds like it has potential for a lot of shooting. Or is it it to inconsistent to plan.

Look for guides that follow the migration!  You could be in one spot this week and 8 hours away tail end of the week.
Ones that only set up in one spot are held by the weather and migration.  Your either in them or spending the day shooting the bull.  The stationary guides can have some pretty impressive sets though.  Some ranging in 10k plus decoys.  When the birds are passing through they are stacking them.  They usually have a list of clients waiting for the phone call.  Makes it difficult and expensive for those that have to fly to hit the correct timing at times.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Just booked a trip yesterday!  I called a few guides and found one that had good reviews and sounded like he knew what he was talking about! PM me if you have any questions!

I went up to Saskatachewan with a buddy a few years ago.  Shot hundreds of snows - it was magical.

We went last year in NW Missouri. Birds were thick in the area but it was rally warm and we didn't kill a ton. Still had a great time but it was a 23 hr drive. We hunted 3 days. I really want to do it again. Maybe next year.

I guess that migration is further north than normal this year the adults are in already in northern South Dakota. I'm flying to Nebraska on Thursday and driving north can't wait!  Weather is looking really good this weekend should be a slaughter.
