Took my small truck in on saturday to a place down in Buckley to have a rebuilt engine put in. It's supposed to be done around the opening day of mod firearm deer. I know the guy doing the work is competent and capable but I don't know if he is prompt. If it comes in time I will be hunting on the east side of the mountains for modern firearm. Otherwise I will have to keep trying for blacktails over here or wait until November if I still have a tag then. I've been really limited with the distance and places I can travel this year so I am hoping this will fix that problem. It's kind of hard to get around when your engine is spewing out oil everywhere and has no power.  :chuckle:

First post here, got sent over from Wa. Fly Fishing board.
I'm so excited and ready, can't wait to get out.  This'll be my second season for deer.  Looks like I might be alone for the opening weekend.  Hopefully everyone that's supposed to go the following week will be down.  If anyone sees a late 20 something up around Ephrata hunting alone and sporting a white Sube say hey.

I still don't know what the hell I'm going to do. The blacktail forecast is so *censored*ty, I don't know if I want to waste my time. I found a fat two point muley in a decent EWa spot last year that should be there and legal this year If I can get the jump on him. Other than that it's cooling my heels until Thanksgiving week in Montana for bucks and bulls.

I hear ya, but the venison freezer went empty last year, I wouldn't even mind banking two deer this year for any future "dry spells".  ;)

I was hoping that if I harvested a 'meat' buck in Wa. this year, that it would also help me be more patient in Montana in November....

have never saw the point of wearing camo with orange over the top.  My granda parents lived on prince of whales island for 15 years, and that is how they knew if you were local or a cityiot.

i've thought about this in the past...and i do it because my hunting clothes(camo) are the best quality clothes i have suited for the occasion. i don't think blue jeans are the best clothes to be out in a rainstorm in,
but i'm a citiot too...what do i know... :bash:

I agree!  I dont get these dudes who dress head to toe in camo and then put on a solid dayglow orange jacket and hat.  I use a fleece vest that is dayglow but with a broken-up branch pattern on it.  Just remember that deer cannot see color but they can plainly see unbroken fields of any solid color.  Orange that is broken up blends into what is around it in a deer's eye.  I also get a kick out of these "cityiots"  (I'm gonna steal that one from ya for my own use. thanks!) who dress head to toe in solid fields of orange.  To the deer they must stick out like a sore thumb!
