Outdoorsmans tripod head
« on: February 24, 2016, 09:49:00 AM »
I'm really looking at getting one of the these for my 15x kaibabs. I also like there binocular adapter. Are they worth the money? Anyone using this setup? Thanks

Best system out there for hunting.  I have a pan head and a pistol grip.  I use the pistol grip 99% of the time.  I have a stud on my EL Range and my 15x's.   I also use my 65 mm and 80 mm Swaro spotters on the pistol grip.  Handles them with no issues.

:yeah:  I personally wasn't a huge fan of the pistol grip for my large spotter so ended up moving 100% to the panhead but the pistol grip with panner is an amazing system for bino's and compacts.  I haven't had a chance to play with the new micro pan head but it looks like it could be a slick way to drop some ounces.  A buddy just bought one so I will get to play with it here in a few months during Idaho spring bear.  You will not be disappointed if you spend the money.

I got the mini panhead and love it.. It is crazy how well it works for 7oz...  Hard to pay the price but knowing I won't have to buy another makes it worth it..  Takes a little getting use to it but that's with everything..

I have the Jim White outdoorsman pan head too, love it.  I've been using it for 10 plus years with bino's and spotters.  I have the older version than what they sell now.

I own numerous outdoorsman products. Their tripods and their heads are absolutely amazing. The pistol grip head should not be sold without the panner. Do not buy the pistol grip alone. The panner head IMO is better than the pistol grip set up when using the big spotters(80mm). Their slogan "built by hunters for hunters" is true. Their equipment is very well built and will last. The downside is that a complete setup is quite expensive, but you will be happy once you use their stuff. I tried going cheap years ago and realized that it doesn't always pay.

I have the outdoors men pan head and like it a lot. My buddy has their tripod and pistol grip head and I don't like either.

I use it for 15x binos and an 80 spotter.

Branden, can I ask what you didn't like about their tripod and pistol grip? Also, was the pistol grip sitting on a panner? Just curious because I have been around some high end tripods and cannot find better features or functions than the outdoorsman.
  Thanks for another opinion.
