I fished in a few weeks ago.  There were some fish but the water was at 14,500 cfs.  Fishing was pretty tough.

Sea lions everywhere.   There's a hundred in the mouth of the Coweeman, been there for weeks.   Was at my property at rocky point on the cowlitz yesterday, several lions moving up river, saw one eating a steelhead so there's atleast a few fish around.

Why not just tune into www.cowlitzriverlive.com mornings and the number of boats with nets out will be a good indicator.  ;)

Outdoor GPS said this AM that there were Springers in the Cow already.  I saw sea lions under the bridges while driving above them a couple of days ago.

The fish are showing up and the catching is pretty decent some days...this is from yesterday and with the weather I considered it a great day..plus we lost a few...if anyone is interested in going give me a shout.  These guys were all Veterans so it was a pleasure to fish with them.

I saw more seals in the Cowlitz yesterday then any time of my life....easily a couple seals every 50 ft from longview all the way up to castlerock...after a couple hours plunking from the bank and watching a consistent 20+ seals swimming around just in our stretch of the river we gave up

I'm sure I saw hundreds of seals yesterday and didn't see any thrashing a salmon/stealhead around...hopefully they leave soon

They followed the smelt up the river and now they will wait for the springers..I personally do  not see them leaving anytime soon...very unfortunate our government will not do anything about them.

I know there's still a lot of smelt in the river but I'd think if it was the mother load than they're would be alot more birds like every other year....there's hardly any birds on the Cowlitz rite now...makes me think the seals are searching for scraps

Either way once the smelt run out we have alot of cows to feed and very little pasture
