Salmon fishing on rivers at a full moon?
« on: March 03, 2016, 10:10:27 AM »
Planning a guided trip on the Fraser, but it looks like the best date for me is right on the full moon in August. My friend who is going along feels that salmon fishing sucks during the full moon.  Any thoughts on this?

I could see it maybe being a little worse in the salt due to the salmon maybe feeding during the night, but am not sure this reasoning, if accurate, would translate to rivers.

I've caught a lot of fish during the full moon, night and day on the river.   I haven't fished out in the salt so can't attest to that being effected.

I can't say anything scientific, but I don't put much stake in it. I eat bananas, too.

Plenty of time running off moon light to the best holes on the river, never had it affect Salmon that I was aware of anyhow...    I have experienced it hard core turn off for bill type fish...

This pic was my best day of Springer fishing on the Columbia with my bud and full moon in background going out, we released a bunch til we decided it was time to bonk a couple bigger ones and go home...  (If you know Springer's, playing the C&R game all day - is an exceptional day)
