turkey behavior

two turkeys pushing each other around for almost an hour, one had the others head half way down its beak??
what are they doing, might have been 2 jakes or a jake and hen???

Establishing dominance would be my guess but I'm far from a turkey expert.

Warming up for the main event.  Saw a tom approach another this week, stretch to full height over a buddy and circle him at least fifty times, in both directions in tight.  Goofy birds

Yep that was happening also, but have never seen them try swalling the others head.      :o

I see it every year. I  even had one that it's lower beak was broken off during the fight. Check out my website. I have a turkey fight video on it. They really get it on. Hens do the same. I actually broke up a fight where one hen had the others head almost down it's throat. I think it is a submission move. When they can't get air they break off the fight. Here is a close up of a gobbler getting head.. :chuckle:

I've seen this too.  Really nasty.

Broken beaks seems to happen quite a bit around here too.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
