I like the looks of a walnut stock, but with the weather conditions in washington, you are better off with a sythetic stock. Especially if your hunting the wet side. And I think that if you go sythetic you might as well get a stainless steel barrel as well. :twocents:

I bought the laminated stock / stainless steel model, that way you get the best of both worlds.

OK, like I said on your other thread, I don't own a Tikka, but my sister loves hers.  It is the Hunter Model with the wood stock. Myself, I would go with the synthetic stock.  I have owned both wood and synthetic and I like the synthetic for ONE reason.  I don't feel bad when I put a scratch on a synthetic stock.
I looked for a picture of my sister with her rifle, but can't find one.  Here are a couple of pics of deer she has killed with it though..

I bought the Tikka T3 Lite because of the 6lb. 3oz weight. End of story

I hate synthetic.  It's ugly.  It's loud.  If you hit something against it, it makes a loud hollow thump.

Personally I only own wood.  I think it looks a lot nicer and feels a lot nicer.  And all the scratches are memories.

I've got two T3's, both stainless synthetics. I love the light weight. I pretty much pack in what ever I'm hunting, so weight is a major issue with me. And I don't have to worry about the rust or wood in the back country. And they are smoken accurate. They shoot way better then I am capable of shooting. I have a .243 and 300 win mag.

I have a 270 Tikka Hunter that I just traded from another member and I love the look and feel. That said if you are going to hunt with the gun I think you should get the t3 lite. The wood stock could cause problems if it gets wet.

From what I have read on the Tikka website I don't see a difference in weight between the hunter and the lite?  :dunno:

You must not have felt the Tikka synthetics.  They have a nice feel and sound to them.  I have seen and touched some of the synthetics that have the plastic baseball bat feel and sound to them.  The tikkas don't.

+1 on the synthetic

I have the t3 lite synthetic/stainless and love it. The stock certainly doesnt go thunk, like a Walmart second. High quality and super accurate out of the box. Markts

I'm not a fan of the stainless either, but no doubt it is easier for maintenance.  If I am going to go through the trouble of camoflaging myself, even to the point where I am wearing a hunter orange vest that breaks up my sillouette, I don't want to be carrying a shiny, silver stick around with me.  I'll probably have bad things said about me and my mother and my dog for thinking this way... but there it is..  I did not opt for the stainless when I bought my Remington.
