Channel Catfish - Mt. Solo Slough/Longview
« on: March 14, 2016, 01:15:31 PM »
Wife and I just moved back to western WA (Cathlamet) after 17 years in Iowa. Catfishing time in the Midwest now! Heard tell of channel 'cats in the Mt. Solo Slough (correct name?) on the west side of Longview south of Highway 4. NOT looking for anything other than someone to confirm or deny that claim. PM, if you wish. Thanks - MDJ

We used to catch catfish all the time in the coal creek slough when I was a kid.  Nothing big and not sure of the subspecies.

My guess would be bullheads (bullhead catfish) only.  They get up around 20 inches give or take.  Channels are few and far between in this state, especially on the wet side  :twocents:  Might be some channels in the lower Columbia, but that is probably a long shot.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.
