Marlin 60/SS

Looked at one today and I think I like it better than the 10/22!  Aside from the pile of crap red plastic front sight, wow nice firearm!

Anyone have one?  I Know the 10/22 can be customized to the end of the earth and back but I'm thinking this Marlin will be a damn sturdy truck/shoot the piss outa .22..

Hows the accuracy with these?

I have a couple 60's. No SS. They shoot but the triggers on both of mine are horrible. I think they can be improved without too much trouble.

Reliable?   I'm not impressed with outta the box accuracy of the 3 10/22's I've owned....  JME

 Yes. Reliable enough. I do have to keep them clean. I think they also make an upgraded spring or something to help feeding. I've been ignoring them recently as I've been playing with a 10/22. I can't say they shoot better than my Rugers though. They're not significantly worse either.

I have shot 50 rounds out of mine into an inch and a half at 100 yards using Rem Golden Bullet HP.  It shoots like that all the time.  The trigger needed work when I got it.  It is blue w/walnut stock though.

My friend bought a new one blued synthetic stock last year, it will not cycle Federal ammunition.

I bought a used model 70 which is basically the same gun but mag-fed, mine will not feed most Federal ammunition or most hollow points.

Every one of my Marlin 22's is a great shooter (even the Glenfields made by Marlin), bolts and semi-autos alike.  Though mine are allover 25 years old....

Mine seems absolutely reliable, and it is tube magazine.  I really don't clean it even though that seems to be the advice given.  Mine is checkered walnut stocked and an Anniversary model, did they take extra effort?  Hell I don't know, I just saw it in the Cabela's store and bought it.   

Golden Bullet is what I buy because it is cheap and that is the only thing I have used in it.  Fifty rounds into an inch and a quarter after I had the trigger done.  Works for me.  I never shoot it when shooting ground squirrels, I am a bolt man and shoot a Kimber of Oregon or a 52 Sporter or a Bruno Mod 1 bolt, I bought it for the kids to have a semi-auto like 10/22 the other kids have.  They seem to be pleased with it.  It is way more accurate than the 10/22's seem to be.  It works, so I guess it is reliable.  If it quit working that is the only time I would know anything was amiss.

I'm shooting a Marlin 795 micro groove. Accuracy is good but it is picky about what it's fed. Trigger is heavy but clean

My first was the Coast to Coast 60th Anniversay Edition (1988). When it gets dirty, it won't extract the shell. They are a bit of a pain to disassemble for cleaning, but it takes a long time to need it. With 22 prices these days, it might be another ten years before I have to clean it again.

I have a SS Mod 60.  It IS accurate!  but as stated, once dirty they're picky and a bit of a pain to clean.  I like mine.
