Sixguns
« on: March 25, 2016, 06:26:07 PM »
Who has'em? I have a couple ruger single actions and a Taurus 357 also have a Taurus .22 but technically it's a nineshooter. Also have a sweet little s&w .357. I have a huge desire to buy an old school smith like a 19 or a 28. Tell me what you have!

I've got a bunch of wheel guns, Rugers, Smith & Wessons and a couple of Rossi's. By far my favorite shooting center fire revolver is my stainless 6" Ruger GP100 in 357 magnum, for plinking I shoot 38s through it.
I like it more then any Smith I have, a few are the 686, 586, 64, 19, 37, 10, 637, 632, 640, 642, and a few others.  Best $500 revolver I ever bought, the next best revolver purchase was my 642 Smith, I carried it EveryDay/AllDay for over three years now. It was $399 & sales tax, so I'm down to a $100 a year, $3.65 a day for personal protection. Never leave home with out it and I have nice groups with it at 50 feet.

For rimfire you can't beat a Ruger Single-Six with both cylinders, 22lr & 22 magnum.

The reasons I like the revolvers over semi autos for target shooting is your not searching allover for the brass, The shooting is slower and gives you more time to shoot and more time to focus on the aim.
I'll be picking up another Ruger 357 Black-Hawk with the 9mm cylinder, I have a SP101 in 9mm. I just want a 9mm revolver with a larger frame. I pick up tons of 9mm brass up where I go shooting, so I might as well have a good gun to shoot the reloads from.
I'm also looking at a Smith & Wesson in 45 acp, another fun shooting gun, but the price is right up there around $800.
It all takes time & money, just one gun at a time & years of collecting.

I only carry around my s&w .357 with a 4" barrel, or my s&w .460 8.5" barrel, depending on where i am and what time of year it is.  Also have a taurus .44 mag raging bull with an 8.5 in barrel, but it no longer seems to have a purpose, the .460 has kind of made it obsolete for me.  Used to carry the .44 everywhere, lots of holster time on that gun and one kill, but now it just kind of collects dust.

I've got a single action army in .357 mag. It's a fun gun to shoot, usually carry it as my side arm in the woods.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

Ruger Single-Six with both cylinders, 22lr & 22 magnum.

Ruger SRH .44 mag. 7.5".

GP100 6".

I really want Ruger Bisley SBH in .45 LC in 5.5" or 7.5" in stainless.

I've had a bunch of different wheel guns ranging from a Western Auto Revelation (re-branded High Standard Double Nine 22LR) up through a few of the S&W X frames (500 and 460 S&W) and just about everything you can imagine in between. There were a few noteworthy guns like the Taurus Tracker Ti 41 Mag, S&W 610 10mm, and the 10" BFR in 45-70 and the Chiappa Rhino 357 mag. The only one I still have is a Super Redhawk in 480 Ruger. I found it while looking for a donor gun to build a 500 Linebaugh and just fell in love with it.

I have to say though, I still want a 500 Linebaugh. And it just so happens that Gary Reeder has a finished one for sale right now for a good price....

High Standard double nine was the first firearm I ever shot, a mere 47 years ago.
Next to 1911's, wheelguns are the most mechanically satisfying handguns I own.
A beautiful SW 34 Target Masterpiece.
Colt Frontier Scout in 99%.
SW 686 and 386 XL Hunter are on my hip when I'm in the backcountry.

SW 686 and 386

Dan Wesson VH44, stainless with a 4" and 6" barrel.

Very old Webley Mk IV in .38S&W, was a service pistol with the Singapore Police Department.
