I'm new to this forum, I have been watching for a while and finally registered..... Anyway I also drew the 49 North spring bear tag and am very much looking forward to the next 2 months of hunting in nice weather. Went scouting on the south end of the unit on opening day and got stuck in the snow at about 3,900 feet elevation, wasn't to surprised. Waiting for some greens to get growing before i hit it to hard yet. Anyone seeing anything good yet?

I spent the weekend in 49 north with my 13 year old son who drew the spring tag. This was our first time in the unit. We spent most of our time in the Ruby and Cusic creek areas. We saw 1 set of bear tracks fairly low. We had a great trip watching the deer and Elk. We will be headed back up the first of May for a few more days of hunting. Hopefully be able to find the boy his first bear. Good luck and safe hunting to all that are lucky enough to be out in the woods this time of the year.

I'm headed over turkey hunting next week for 10 days and have a spring bear tag too so Ill post a report along the way. Hoping the snow is melting fast and the grass is growing! Good luck to everyone with the tag! Pm me if your going to be over there around the 15-25 or may 6-13. I have hunted the unit for almost 20 years and am looking forward to finally spring bear hunting it and maybe meeting some new hunters.

So I couldn't help it, even though i knew deep down that it was early and the grass wasn't very tall and lush yet I couldn't ignore the nice weather and had to go out and look for my spring bear. At 4,000 feet I ran into some impassible snow on a  northwest aspect. As always there is never a day in the woods that is considered a "waste", saw 15 or so deer and 18 elk. Can't wait for May when the bears are out and moving and the roads are passable.

Looks like quite a few of us drew this tag. That's super cool. I will be headed over the week after next for a scouting/early hunting trip. We will probably stay at Bennie's or the Comfort inn in Colville, my wife's idea of camping. Lol. If anybody wants to meet up and share info I'm all for it. I will share anything I know or find out. We can help with pack outs also. I'm looking forward to some warm weather bear hunting. Gook hunting everyone.
