Lake Kapowsin park people are at it again - Meeting 4/23
« on: April 07, 2016, 12:13:49 PM »
If we don't want to lose Lake Kapowsin for hunting or see it turn into a park for 'rowing competitions'... I'd suggest showing up and helping get the aquatic reserve approved through the DNR so we can keep the lake as it is. Meeting is in Graham on April 23rd.

Have they even been on that lake? Good luck rowing around the stumps!

The county will win and DNR will lose  :twocents:

Meaning it'll remain "As Is"?

No. If it becomes a county/regional park you will say goodbye to hunting.

DNR's version would essentially protect the lake "as is." The county/outsider group proposal will basically turn it into a tourist attraction.

Here is what the DNR responded with when I contacted them:

DNR wants to make sure Lake Kapowsin can continue to be enjoyed and studied as it currently is. As you may have read in the Tacoma News Tribune, others have different plans for it.
A meeting to talk about the lake's future is being organized by Sen. Randi Becker and Representatives J.T. Wilcox and Andrew Barkis. It will be April 23 at 6 p.m. at Graham Fire Station 94. DNR will be on hand to discuss our reserve proposal. In the meantime, you can find out a little more at http://www.dnr.wa.gov/managed-lands/aquatic-reserves/lake-kapowsin
We will be putting out reminders over the next couple weeks, so stay tuned. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact Public Information Officer Joe Smillie at joe.smillie@dnr.wa.gov or 360-902-1169.
