My son has a 338 RUM shoots well with 250 and 300 grain bullets.  Oh, there is not tracking any animals once they are hit good.  THey are down and done.

Other than them both being .338's I don't think there is much to compare and if those were my only two choices and I was using it to hunt with, I'd pick the 338 Winnie every time, but in saying that, I personally think the 300 Win mag is a better choice and one of the best do all factory cartridges available.

Most work really well if you practice enough to make a vital shot when it counts.
