Read in this month's bugle magazine that these are a tasty alternative to mountain house. What do you think?

I haven't heard of it, but in general carbs are your friend in the backcountry. Are these Paleo freeze dried meals?

They don't look bad at all but not very many choices.

just looked at the beef stew pouch-- 390 calories with 42 grams of protein, 25 grams of carbs with 15 grams of sugar. Not very Paleo?
Mt House beef stew pouch will be 475 calories, 32.5 grams of protein, 55 grams of carbs, with 5 of that being sugar...and cheaper for sure.
I like eating Paleo but toss it aside when it comes to backcountry hunting. You want high calories and easily attained carbs to avoid fatigue and other physical and mental benefits.

They only big downfall to MH is the sodium. Most of the better options come with a price though. When you are consuming 30+ meals a season, the cost can add up.
Wish I wasn't so lazy, id make my own

I will order a couple of the P2G meals to sample and let you know what I think. No more MH for me. I've cut over to Heather's Choice. The extra cost is worth it for better food quality and nutrition. I chow down on those packaroon things.

I have super low food standards
Some of the things I've eaten over the years would make a stray dog turn up his nose

Met Heather with Heatherschoice.com at the BHA rendezvous last month in Missoula. She has great stuff with awesome ingredients. It is definitely more expensive then MH but like BLRman said the sodium is killer. Not to mention the protein amount in Heathers stuff is way higher.

Mary Jane organics freeze dried is the best I have ever had. It's the only brand I will take from now on, I started using it last year and it was way higher quality, the meals were pretty excellent, I paid more but it was totally worth it. Found them at REI

I have not tried the paleo freeze dried stuff.
That said, do yourself a favor and buy a good food dehydrator.
You can easily whip up massive quantities of homemade goodness in the comfort of your kitchen to match your body's preferred diet for a small fraction of the cost of freeze dried meals. They taste better because you prepare the food the way you like it to begin with, and you can freezer bag (or preferably vacuum seal) perfect portion sizes of the finished dried product. Store them in the refrigerator or freezer until you need them if they are not going to be used for a few months.
Regards,
Allen
