Hodgdon Lil Gun??? Good powder or not?

I am just now starting to reload for my revolvers and was wondering what you guys think about Hodgdon's Lil Gun powder.  I will be reloading for my 38, .357, 45 colt and 454 casull.  What to you guys think??  Is there a better powder for all those calibers or should I look at different powder for different calibers?

For your 357 and 454 yes, your 38 probably not, 45 colt depends on how hot you like it. It's one of those hot pistol/small gauge shotgun/small caliber rifle powders, generally not used for plinking loads in revolvers. Here and there I see it talked about being linked to excessive throat erosion on wheel guns because it burns pretty hot but I don't shoot it much so have never had the problem.

If you are looking to get top tier performance (velocity) from the 357 and 454 but standard performance (target loads) for the 38 and 45 colt you'll be wanting at least 2 different powders.

Do you have issues with coal length in the Cz? I've heard you can't use the 40 grain  vmax in clip fed rifles because the bullets too long? I'm running them as well but I shot a single shot.

Not since I exchanged my magazine & ~$40 bucks for one of James Calhoon's modified magazines.  By the way, his single shot adapter is the bomb too.  http://jamescalhoon.com/

You need to load the bullets out as close to the rifling to get the accuracy.  It was that way in mine and the other half-dozen I have helped others with.

What kind of locking lugs does the CZ have.  Is it the two lug Model 70 style or the rimfire type locking lugs.   My Model 43 Winchester and my Kimbers have the rimfire lug style.

I didn't realize that you were a cz guy. I have a 527 in .233. They're an awesome rifle for the money! Oh and I have no doubt about the velocity your getting

Win 296 gives high velocities also.   I chronied over 3000 fps out of my K Hornet before I figured I was potentially stressing the Kimber locking lugs.

I use HS6 for my 45LC and save the Lil Gun for loading .410. I have not found any Lil Gun on the shelf around here.
Since this was thread jacked by the CZ guys, I'll add mine as well. I have them in .22, .223, 6.5X55 and 9.3X62 the last 3 are full stocked.
